Timeline

  • Spring 2019 – Tall Oak, LLC purchased Lone Oak Golf Course & Pool without indicating to all previous shareholders their intent to request a zone change & create a housing development. They also purchased the duplex at 252-254 Courchelle Drive.
  • June 10th, 2019 – City Commission votes unanimously in 60 seconds to Annex the greenspace after 92 minutes of public input by concerned citizens.
  • July 1, 2019 – At 2nd reading, City Commission votes unanimously in 14 seconds to Annex the greenspace after an additional 32 minutes of public input by concerned citizens. Speakers were asked to stay under 2 minutes and not repeat comments.
  • September 23, 2019 – First Planning and Zoning Meeting. Lawyers from both sides spoke for over 4 hours, and the meeting was adjourned to be continued in October with public comments
  • October 28, 2019 – Continuation of Planning and Zoning meeting, a vote 6-4 NOT to recommend the Development – Win!
  • Nov 8, 2019 – Development plan was retracted from the agenda of the City Commission Mtg. on Nov. 11th
  • Jan 7, 2020 – Developers submit a new zone change request/plan layout. Our fight to Save the Greenspace continues!
  • Feb 24, 2020 – Planning and zoning meeting for the 2nd proposed development. Lawyers from both sides spoke as well as public input for nearly 4 hours. In the end, there was a 6-5 vote NOT to recommend the development.
